The liguriaccessibile.it website has published an article on Jay. This is actually an interview with DotVocal’s CEO Enrico Reboscio. Read the article (Italian only).

The extraordinary Tobia Pallavicino palace, home of the Chamber of Commerce of Genoa, has been used for the awards ceremony of the RSI (“social responsibility of businesses”) prizes. The Chamber of Commerce of Genoa ha established the prizes in may. The evaluation process had been entrusted to the CLP (Centro Ligure Produttività), which is the local agency in charge of developing small businesses that seek their profit without loosing sight of social and environmental issues.
DotVocal and MicroEra have been awarded with the fourth prize, for the development of Jay, which was nominated in the category “innovative product of social or environmental relevance”.
The most significant factor that lead to this award has been the collaboration of the two firms with the Istituto David Chiossone of Genoa, especially during Jay‘s testing and tuning phase. An ongoing collaboration which has been consolidated over time and which has brought the two firms to provide free licenses for all the computers of the institute’s multimedia room.

The “Premio Perotto” awards prizes each year to some of the the best ICT solutions and applications developed by Italian companies.
DotVocal and MicroEra were awarded the “Targa Confindustria Genova” prize, for their multimodal application Jay.
Jay is a document reader that can extend the use of vocal technologies to common people, in their daily life.
The jury’s decision was due to the social usefulness of the Jay application, which can be helpful in reducing the “digital impairment” of some specific categories of users.

Jay version 1.2.0 has been released. It contains many enhancements over the previous version. The main new feature is that Jay can now be installed on a USB key, to be used on many different computers, without reinstallation.
